Mackay Regional Council

Project: Public Art Strategy
Location: Mackay Queensland
Year: 2017

Cultural Matters was engaged through a tender process to research and write a five year public art strategy for Mackay Regional Council.

Cultural Matters conducted research, community, creative industries and internal Council stakeholder consultations, site visits and scoping, public art project scoping,  writing and presentation of the Public Art Strategy, implementation plan and recommendations.

Mackay Regional Council engaged Principal Consultant Georgia Rouette in 2018 to undertake a review of council’s public art processes and facilitate local consultation activities with internal and external stakeholders and the community-at-large to inform the development of a 5-year Public Art Strategy.

Georgia was wonderful to work with. Her knowledge of best-practice commissioning processes and her ability to engage diverse interest groups in lively conversations about the value of public art ensured the creation of a practical, living strategic document that guides the development of public art in our region and truly reflects the aspirations of our community.
